Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the use of iron nanoparticles (Fe NPs) in the acclimatization process of henequen in vitro plants. The study was carried out at the Center for Biotechnology Studies (CEBIO) of the University of Matanzas, in a cultivation house with light intensity management [photosynthetic photon flux (FFF)], through different conditions created with the use of layers of black saran mesh, in addition to managing relative humidity and substrate. The trial used rooted seedlings from the in vitro phase, which were selected according to their vegetative vigor and phytosanitary status. To evaluate the effect of Fe NPs, three concentrations of the product (50, 100, and 150 mg L-1) were used as the treatments under study, in addition to a control treatment without the application of the nanoproduct. With these variants, an experiment was set up using a completely randomized design consisting of 25 plants in each experimental unit. Two applications of the nanoproduct were made, and plant development was evaluated at two different times during the acclimatization phase (35 and 55 days). Morphological and physiological variables of the plant response were measured. The results showed no stimulatory effect of this nanoproduct under the study conditions. The morphophysiological variables evaluated reflected behavior in the developmental dynamics of the vitroplants, characteristic of this species during the acclimatization phase.
