The University of Guantánamo in the management of scientific knowledge with an environmentalist approach for sustainable and sustainable local development

Abstract

The research was developed at the University of Guantánamo by the Environmental Risk Prevention Group, from an integrated approach, based on the demands demanded by the Ministry of Higher Education, from the systematic management of processes, to achieve a university integrative, innovative, and relevant, that significantly impacts the Guantanamo territory by responding to the scientific problem. How to contribute to the management of scientific knowledge with an environmentalist approach, for sustainable and sustainable local development, from the leading role of the University of Guantanamo? Based on this mission, the objective is focused on the implementation of integrative actions aimed at contributing to the management of scientific knowledge with an environmentalist approach, for sustainable and sustainable local development, from the leading role of the University of Guantánamo. As a novel aspect in the research, UG stands out in the Government management system based on science and innovation in strategic sectors, prioritized and semi-arid areas, in correspondence with the current demands of the 2030 Agenda, for sustainable development. The result presented has contributed to the formation of capacities from environmental management, fostering the Government-University-Business link, raising the preparation of professionals, the perception of environmental risks, prevention of disasters due to natural, technological and health causes, food security and the solution of environmental problems, based on its corporate purpose. Theoretical and empirical methods were used such as interviews, surveys, observations, analysis and synthesis, document review, and data and methodological triangulation.
