EDITORIAL POLICY

The journal accepts original and unpublished papers in Spanish and English, on topics related to irrigation and drainage, agricultural mechanization, energy in agriculture, and related environmental aspects. These can be original articles, technical notes, reviews and points of view, letters to the editor, summaries of doctoral theses, master's degrees, specialties and technical discussions about a published article.

Original article is understood to be one based on research work in which the scientific method has been applied and the effect of different treatments on the response of a system has been studied, as a methodology to verify or reject a work hypothesis. These are prioritized by the journal.

Technical notes are articles based on experimental or development work that present novel methodological aspects or results that the author wishes to publish before finalizing their development or research.

Review and points of view are understood to be those writings based on the analytical review of scientific articles or research reports, in which the author provides his point of view on the subject and establishes conclusions regarding the current state of knowledge of the same.

In the letters to the editor section, the journal will publish those it deems appropriate, which must present opinions or comments from the scientific community, editorial notes from the journal's management on certain topics or commemorations. The purpose of this part is to disseminate information or encourage discussion on topics published in the pages of this journal or of interest to the scientific community.

The thesis summaries section is intended to publicize the summaries of the content of the theses presented annually for defense before IAgric courts and the Permanent National Court of Agricultural Engineering of the Republic of Cuba.

The works that are sent must adhere to these norms and will be evaluated by the Editorial Committee or by whom it designates, before being published.

1) Title: in Spanish or Portuguese and English
2) Author(s); 3) Institution(s) and work address of the authors; 4) Summary in Spanish or Portuguese and English ( abstract );
5) Keywords; in Spanish or Portuguese and English ( keywords );
6) Introduction; 7) Methods;8) Results and Discussion;9) Conclusions and 10) Bibliographical References. The Editorial Committee may accept some modifications to this structure when the content of the text so warrants. The essays must consist of the following parts: 1) Title: in Spanish or Portuguese and English 2) Author(s); 3) Institution(s) where the work was carried out and work address of the authors; 4) Summary in Spanish or Portuguese and English ( abstract );
5) Keywords; in Spanish or Portuguese and English ( keywords );
6) Introduction; 7) Development of the theme, with the subtitles that are deemed convenient; 8) Discussion, when appropriate; 9) Conclusions and 10) Bibliographical References.

Letters to the editor and thesis summaries do not have a defined format, but they should not exceed one page, spaced and a half, written in Times New Roman font 11 .
All work to be sent for possible publication in this journal must be accompanied by a letter of intent addressed to the Editor, which includes a brief description of the most important findings and indicates the institution, address, telephone, fax, and email address of the responsible author. , with whom the journal will maintain contact (no more than one double-spaced page, written in Times New Roman 11, the work must be sent in printed original, with data of the responsible author (institution, address, telephone, fax and email) in double-spaced letter-size paper, with 2.5 cm margins on all four sides and with numbered lines, the pages, including those of the tables (tables) and figures, will be numbered progressively. The text should not exceed 12 pages, for a scientific article and eight for a technical note, including tables (tables) and figures.In the first version, each table (table) or figure should be inserted in the text, in the other arranged versions the text will be written in continuous, without collation of tables (tables) and figures. The tables (tables) and figures will only have the essential information and in no case will they repeat the data that is presented in another way, the units of the International System of Units and Measurements (SI) will be used.

A space is left between the number and the unit of measurement (5 m, 42 oC ). No space is left between the number and the unit when it comes to percentages, angles and measures of longitude or latitude (45o, 15%, 30o15´5´´N). Spaces are used to divide large numbers into groups of three, both to the left and right of the decimal point (143,570 and 21,345,678). Four-digit numbers are written without a space and without a comma. A decimal point will only be used when writing figures referring to money (100.00 pesos), in all other cases a comma (100.00 m) will be used. Nouns are not mixed with units of measurement (correct: the water content is 20 mL kg-1; incorrect: the content is 20 mL H2O kg-1).

Rounding numbers follows three simple rules:

1) If the first two digits to be discarded are less than 50, the previous digit does not change. Example 5.44236 rounds to 5.44.
2) If the first two digits to be discarded are greater than 50, 1 is added to the previous number. Example: 5.44725 is rounded to 2.45.3) If the first two digits to be discarded are 50, 1 is added to the previous number if it is odd and it is not changed if it is even. Examples: 5.4350 and 5.4450 round to 5.44.

If there is only one figure and it is less than 10, it must be written in words (five provinces, six municipalities, nine neighborhoods; unlike 12 countries, 46 states. However, if that figure is accompanied by a unit of the International System of Units and Measures must be expressed as a number (4 mL , 7 kg, 3 h).

Manuscripts, figures and tables should also be delivered on a compact disc in a recent version of Word for Windows. The figures must be in a format that allows for subsequent modifications, regarding the size of the numbers on the axes, the thickness of the lines on them, and the text of the legends.

All the work must be written in Times New Roman font (including numbering in axes, content and figure legends). The title in Spanish will be written in size 18 in bold. The Title in English, size 18 too, but without bold. The rest of the text must be written in font size 11, except for the footnotes, which are in font size 9.

FORMAT FOR PUBLICATION

In the journal, the papers are published in the format described below; however, the manuscripts must be prepared as indicated in the previous section and taking into account, as far as possible, the instructions in this section. The editorial staff of the journal will prepare the final version for printing on the pages of the journal.

-Titles. The title will be written in lowercase, except for the first letter of the start word, justified, in bold and in Times New Roman 18 font ; under the title in Spanish or Portuguese, the title in English will be placed; this will also be written in lowercase except for the first letter of the start word, justified, without bold and Times New Roman 18 font .

Holder form. The titles have different orders and indicate the position of a section within the article.

First order title. It is the main title of the article (Times New Roman 18).

Second order title. The different parts of the article correspond to this type: summary, Abstract , Introduction, etc. They are written in capital letters, justified in bold ( Times New Roman 11).

Third order title . They are written on the left margin, in lower case, except for the first letter of the words, in bold with single spaces after the last written text and before the next one.
Fourth order title. They are written on the left margin, in bold, with lower case (except the first letter of the title), with a point followed by text, without numbering.

Fifth Order Title . They are written to the left margin, without bold, with lower case, (except the first letter), with a point followed by text, without numbering.

- Authors: authors with two last names must include them. Titles and grades will be omitted. The first letters of first name(s) and last name(s) will be written in capital letters. The names of the authors are centered in bold separated by commas, one space after the title in English.

-Sponsoring institution(s) and address of the authors in footnotes on the first page. The objective of this part of the article is to give respective credit to the institution that sponsored the work and that readers can contact the authors, if necessary; the postal and electronic address of the responsible author must be specified. Affiliations must contain the standardized name of the institution and then place the name of the faculty or department, state or province, and country. For other authors, just include the name and postal address. This identification will be written in lower case, except for acronyms, in footnotes on the first page, justified, with a period at the end of the address and Times New Roman 9 font, footnotes may also be used on any page, when necessary. necessary to identify additional information; They will be numbered progressively throughout the text.

-Summary. This section must synthesize in 200 words, the most important aspects of the work: that is, justification, importance, experimental method (when applicable) and conclusions.

-Keywords. these should not include terms present in the title. They are placed one space below the abstract, on the left margin. The term "Keywords" is written in lower case, in bold; the keywords, with the same font, without bold. A maximum of five simple or compound keywords will be noted. For the selection of the correct keywords, the Thesaurus- Agrovoc available at: http://aims.fao.org/es/standards/agrovoc/functionalities/search should be consulted.

-Abstract . _ The same rules are followed as for the Summary in Spanish or Portuguese.

- Keywords . The instructions given for Keywords will be followed.

-Introduction. This section indicates the problem studied, its importance and the objectives of the work, which implicitly implicit the hypotheses of the same. It also contains the most relevant aspects of the subject, discussed by other authors and identified in the literature review. The introduction should not exceed two pages, double spaced, with Times New Roman 11 font.

-Methods. This section should describe the relevant characteristics of the materials used in the study and the experimental methods used. Models, brands, manufacturing companies and countries of origin of the instruments used must be indicated. In the case of reagents, the manufacturing company must be indicated. It should be clarified in a footnote that the mention of trademarks of the equipment, instruments or specific materials is solely for identification purposes, and there is no promotional commitment with the author(s). The management of the journal is not responsible for the criteria issued in relation to products of a certain commercial firm. Particular importance should be given to the description of the experimental method used to achieve the objectives of the work. It must show full agreement with the hypotheses.

-Results and discussion. The results obtained in the investigation are included here. these are presented in the form of text, tables (tables) or figures and should not duplicate the information presented. In addition, they must present results that can be easily calculated.
In the Direction, the most important principles and cause-effect relationships derived from the analysis of the results will be highlighted. In addition, the reason for what was observed should be explained based on the observations made, without speculating. The results obtained will be compared with those of other researchers and the divergences and similarities will be pointed out.

-Conclusions. The first conclusions that are presented should be those corresponding to the proposed objectives.

-Citations in the text. The citations in the text will be made according to the way in which they participate in the sentence. The following rules will be followed:

1) the main last name of the author(s) and the year will be cited, in the case of one or two authors, and the main last name of the first author followed by et al., and year in the case of three or more authors,
2) the citations, when more than one, will be placed in chronological order; 3) when the name of the author(s) participates in the sentence, the main last name will be placed, followed by the year in parentheses. Example: Martínez (2006) observed that..., Valdés (2007) and Bouza (2008) ratified...;4) when the quote is added at the end of the sentence, the names of the authors and the year will be placed between parentheses, separated by a comma. Example: at the end of the harvest ( Paneque , 2006) or De las Cuevas, 2007; García, 2008) or (Hernández, et al., 2007);
5) when the author has more than one publication in a year, add a, b, or c. Example: (Iglesias, 1907a), (Iglesias, 2007b) or (Iglesias, 2007a,b);6) the bibliographical references consulted on the Internet will be written in accordance with what was previously stated, in addition to including the electronic address and the date on which they were published. made the query.

-Bibliographic references. To make the list of bibliographical references of the material cited in the text of the article, the indications that are detailed with examples in the Harvard guideline will be followed, although it is recommended to use the CSL file that contains the style of the journal called Revista Ingeniería Agrícola ( Spanish ) which will be available on the site https://www.zotero.org/styles/, which can be loaded by a wide range of bibliographic managers such as Zotero , Mendeley . Papers , among others.

Each original document must have at least 15 bibliographical references (of which 50% must belong to original articles published in scientific journals), in Times New Roman 11, alphabetically ordered, justified, with 1.5 line spacing and only The works cited in the text will be included in it. Each article must comply with the Price index, that is, 60% of the bibliographic citations must correspond to the last five years, except in the cases of Review Articles because the references must cover a wide range of time. Self-citations , both from the author himself and from the journal, should not exceed 20% of the literature consulted.

Articles from scientific journals, books, book chapters, patents, standards, published reports from recognized institutions with international prestige (FAO, UNESCO, etc.), articles at conferences (congresses, symposiums, seminars) can be used in the preparation of documents. , workshops and events) that have published at least reports, maps, satellite images, theses, statistical web pages and computer programs.

In the bibliographical references, the first surname of the main author is placed first and then the initial(s) of the name(s) and of the second surname. A comma is placed between the last name and the initial(s) and this same procedure is followed for the rest of the authors. The separation between authors is by means of a semicolon and a colon is placed after the initial(s) of the last author. When several articles have the same authors, the references will be ordered chronologically. If the year of publication was the same for several citations, they will be differentiated with the letters a, b, c, among others.

Each part of the items will be separated by a comma and a period will be placed only after the year. The titles of book chapters, encyclopedias, conference articles, newspapers and scientific journals will be placed in quotation marks and for the rest of the documents they will be entered without quotation marks and in italics. The names of scientific journals, newspapers, encyclopedias, web pages, congresses, symposiums, seminars, workshops and events are placed in full (without abbreviation) respecting the original grammar and in italics.

Some miscellaneous established by the ISO 690:2010 standard must be used in certain variables and characters to be able to differentiate them within the bibliography. It will be indicated in front of the editor, translator, interviewer, editor of the series, author of the book when a section of the book is referenced, publisher, series and date of release of standards and patents, the prefixes (edit.), (trans.), ( entr .), (edit. ser.), (en), (Ed.), (ser.) and ( Vig .) respectively. In the corresponding cases, it will be placed after the edition number (a. ed.) (eg 3a. ed.) and before the volume number (vol.) with the exception of articles from scientific journals that are not placed .

Given the international standard numbers (ISSN, ISBN) given to journals, newspapers, books, maps, etc. and the digital object identifier (DOI) is placed (ISSN-), (ISBN-) and (DOI-), (eg ISSN-0864-0424, ISBN- 959- 16-03177, DOI- 10.1016/j.still .2011.02.004). The number of pages is indicated by (pp.) and can go as a prefix or suffix depending on the item . In the case of computer programs, the version number is placed between parentheses and the word (Version) is placed before it; eg (Version 3.01).

Other aspects to take into account

The tables or charts must be made according to the table autoformat used in Microsoft Word, with the Basic Table 1 style, as shown in the example of Table 1, they do not have vertical lines. Column and line headings will be in lowercase, except for the first letter of the heading. Only the number of significant figures necessary will be used. The tables or charts will not be larger than a letter size page considering the margins.
Maps and figures should not exceed one letter page, with specified margins. In a figure what is interesting to highlight is the content and not the axes. Consequently , the thickness of the latter must be less than that of the interior lines. The background of the figures must not have lines, and their background must be white, as shown in the example of the Figure.

Acknowledge . They may be included at the end of the text, after the Conclusions and before the

Bibliographic references.

Statistical methods

Mean separation procedures are often misused. This can result in incorrect scientific conclusions. Multiple comparisons of means (LSD) should be used only when the treatments do not have a well-defined structure (for example, studies to compare natural systems that do not depend on humans, that are not homogeneous in agricultural and industrial experiments or of another nature). Authors should be aware of the limitations of multiple comparisons of means tests when little information is available on the structure of the treatments ( Chew , 1980; Nelson & Rawling , 1983; Carmer & Walker, 1985 ).
logical structure, orthogonal contrasts between them are used.
