Abstract

In order to obtain a rapid an uniform germination, direct planting rice in dry soils, requires to be irrigated before the frst 24 after seeded, it mean that, this consideration must be into account when an irrigation system is designed for rice irrigation at the same time that the system have the maximum water application effciency. Applying the SIRMOD mathematical modeling tool (Surface Irrigation Model), it was determined, for the environmental conditions of “Los Palacios” rice productions enterprise, located in of Pinar del Rio, different design variants that increase the effciency of feld water application. It was concluded that using a 140 m basin length and flow rates from 85 to 300 l sec-1 it is possible to increase irrigation feld application effciencies until 80% and lowed the water percolation losses in around 30%.
