Abstract

The Francisco de Paula Santander Ocaña University is located in the Colombian Catatumbo region. This region has been immersed for decades in a social, political and armed conflict. Since the signing of the peace agreement between the Colombian State and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia FARC-EP, the communities of the region have opted for the construction of a peaceful Catatumbo, however the failure to comply with the terms of said agreement and the presence of insurgencies have made its appropriation difficult. In this context, the Francisco de Paula Santander Ocaña University, as part of its higher education regionalization strategy, has opted for the construction of relevant research that arises from the communities. For this, socializations of the different organizations of the territory were carried out: peasants, indigenous people and territorial entities. These exercises gave rise to the call for research for 15 diagnostic projects of social and technological development in the region of El Catatumbo, based on topics of agricultural and livestock research, environmental, land ownership and territorial, social and human rights planning. . , education, administrative and organizational, Barí Indigenous Community in the area of ​​cultural re-significance of the Catatumbo River basin, and own management systems for protected areas. The advanced process demonstrated the need for constant articulation between the academy and the community, this being the fundamental step for the recognition of the ancestral and cultural knowledge of the communities of Catatumbo.
