de Ingeniería Rural de la Universidad Federal de Santa Maria, RS- Brasil, en el período noviembre-diciembre del 2006, desde la siembra del
maíz hasta que el índice de área foliar alcanzó el valor de 2.7. La humedad del suelo se midió con TDR en las profundidades de 0-10 y 10-30 cm.
Se evaluaron tres niveles de cobertura muerta con cero labranza y un cuarto tratamiento de preparación de suelo convencional sin cobertura
muerta. Los resultados demuestran un ahorro de agua del orden del 40% cuando se usa siembra directa con cobertura muerta.
