Calidad del agua de riego y su posible efecto en los rendimientos agrícolas en la Empresa de Cultivos Varios Sierra de Cubitas

Abstract
Los altos niveles de Na+ y Cl- , presentes en el agua empleada para el riego en la empresa de cultivos varios Sierra de Cubitas, unido a los síntomas de toxicidad y poco desarrollo vegetativo del cultivo de la papa han llevado a la dirección del Ministerio de la Agricultura a plantear la necesidad de valorar si se justifica mantener los niveles de siembra previstos del citado cultivo en esta Empresa. El estudio realizado indica que si bien el efecto tóxico sobre el cultivo puede estar presente, no es el único factor que limita actualmente los rendimientos agrícolas. Los niveles de Na+ y Cl- encontrados en el agua pueden producir toxicidad sobre el cultivo de la papa; incrementándose estos con la tecnología de riego empleada, por lo que en la empresa incide decisivamente en el resultado productivo el uso y mal manejo de aguas de mala calidad. El estudio recomienda el empleo de adaptaciones al sistema de riego para disminuir los efectos negativos sobre los rendimientos.
