Abstract

This paper presents the results of the research developed in Suchiate river basin, in the part corresponding to Guatemala, with the aim of proposing math ematical mod els for th e estimation of h y d ro energetic variables th at contribute to th e integral use of w ater resources. Dif f erent ty pes of regression mod els lik e poly nomial, multiple linear and nonlinear multiple potential w ith tw o and th ree ind epend ent variables w ere obtained f or th e estimation of pressure pipe d iameter, h ead losses, gross h ead h eigh t, net h ead h eigh t, th e pow er of th e turbine and th e total energy produced by the hydroelectric power station. These were validated by means of the coefficient of determination and the Mean P ercentage Error, reach ing ad eq uate values th at allow th eir saf e use in th e d esign of h y d roelectric plants.
