Abstract
La sostenibilidad de las cuencas es de vital importancia para el desarrollo de las comunidades que conviven en ellas. El objetivo de esta investigación fue evaluar la gestión ambiental de la cuenca del río Naranjo a través de un índice. Para ello se empleó el Índice simplificado de Gestión de Cuencas (IsGC) propuesto por especialistas del Instituto Nacional de Recursos Hidráulicos. Se convocó a 14 expertos para definir el peso de cada variable utilizada. Los valores del IsGC obtenidos para los años 2009-2011, indican que la gestión se clasifica como Media, lo que implica el desarrollo e implementación de estrategias por parte de todos los actores sociales y las comunidades.
