Resumen

Se extrajeron de la literatura, datos actuales sobre tuberculosis bovina, en particular lo referente a su etiología y clasificación. Los aspectos sobre el desarrollo de la infección tuberculosa y el papel del estado de alergia del animal en el cuadro clínico resultante, la formación del granuloma tuberculoso, el desarrollo del complejo primario de la tuberculosis y su importancia diagnóstica, las formas clínicas de la enfermedad. De los programas de erradicación de la tuberculosis bovina, se recogen las experiencias del autor en el trabajo investigativo de matadero. Se logró establecer las siguientes conclusiones: 1) La tuberculosis puede considerarse hoy en día como una enfermedad re-emergente de gran importancia sanitaria debido a que afecta a casi todas las especies de mamíferos y a las aves y el riesgo de transmisión que esto supone.2) El desarrollo de los programas de control y erradicación de la tuberculosis, a la vez de la necesidad de llevarlos a cabo, resultan en cuantiosas pérdidas económicas.3) La detección de lesiones tuberculosas en el matadero, es efectivo, como sistema de vigilancia y resulta una herramienta eficaz para el monitoreo de la progresión de los programas de erradicación.
